Bowman Accused of Pulling Fire Alarm in House Office Building

Congressman Jamaal Bowman faces accusations of pulling a fire alarm in a US House of Representatives office building.

Bowman, who represents New York's 16th Congressional District, is accused of causing a false alarm in the Rayburn House Office Building on June 27, 2023.

According to sources familiar with the incident, Bowman pulled the alarm in the building's hallway, causing the building to be evacuated for several hours.

Bowman's office has not yet responded to requests for comment, and it is unclear why he allegedly pulled the fire alarm.

Bowman, 46, is a former teacher and principal who was elected to Congress in 2020. He is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and has been an outspoken advocate for progressive policies such as Medicare for All and the Green New Deal.

If the accusations against Bowman are true, he could face criminal charges. The Capitol Police are currently investigating the incident.
